My work emanates a quiet power.  Integrating the processes of painting, sewing, cutting and collage, I manipulate ephemera like paper, thread, wire and encaustic to create works that address fragility, blessing, growth and transience.  There is a quality of ‘the delicate’ in the materials I have chosen, which alludes to the frailty contained within our physical and spiritual realms.  I am most interested in that elusive space where strength dwells in vulnerability.

A heightened sensitivity to the manner in which objects are displayed reinforces the dialectic between opacity and transparency, presence and absence.  Cast shadows animate this balance between form and formlessness.  Text signifies the spoken or written word, reminding us that language elicited by the body is articulated through the fleeting act of breathing.   My engagement with literal and conceptual references to the body is fertile ground to cultivate the tenuous relationship between the corporeal and the ethereal.
